Children’s Health Insurance Program

On February 4, President Obama signed into law H.R. 2, the “Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009.”

The new law (Public Law 111-3) will increase federal CHIP funding by $32.8 billion over the next five years, while offsetting this new spending with an increase in the federal excise tax on tobacco products. Read more...
