Make the Most of September: Life Insurance Awareness Month

2008 Life Insurance Awareness MonthTake advantage of your once-a-year opportunity to approach people in your community at a time when life insurance will be on their minds: Life Insurance Awareness Month.

The Life and Health Insurance Foundation For Education (LIFE) and other major industry groups are spending millions of dollars in September to get Americans thinking about their need for life insurance. The month also features an educational campaign designed to get consumers to take stock of their life insurance needs and protect their loved ones through proper life insurance planning.

Insurance professionals report that one of the best things about LIAM is that it helps them get appointments scheduled. Pointing out that September is LIAM gives clients and prospects one more reason to say “yes” to a meeting.

NAIFA is a major sponsor of LIFE and Life Insurance Awareness Month, and the LIAM section of the NAIFA website has information for NAIFA members. NAIFA members benefit from LIAM advertising and events and also receive substantial discounts on LIFE products year-round.

For more information, see www.naifa.org/liam or www.lifehappens.org/liam.

So You're a NAIFA Member, Now What?

You have made the decision to ensure your career against legislation and regulation that harms insurance and financial services professionals. However, do you realize how important it is to increase NAIFA’s legislative influence by building membership? Member dues give NAIFA the financial means to lobby on your behalf in state and federal legislatures.

In addition, the sheer number of NAIFA members represents a pool of votes most legislators do not want to risk losing. In this time of ever-increasing threats to the industry, it is vital that you give the next level of support to your professional association by becoming an Outstanding Member Recruiter.

When a NAIFA member recruits his/her first member, he/she receives an exclusive silver NAIFA lapel pin. And NAIFA continues to reward you as recruit more members. Recruit 12 members within one membership year (July 1 to June 30) and you become NAIFA Outstanding Member Recruiter. Recognition includes stylish gifts bearing the NAIFA logo. Your name will also be listed in NAIFA Connections and on NAIFA’s website. Outstanding Member Recruiters are also recognized during NAIFA’s largest member gathering, the NAIFA Convention and Career Conference.

Current Outstanding Member Recruiters tell us that bringing members in is as simple as asking the question. In addition, NAIFA-National’s compelling resources, tools and other materials make it easy to explain the value of NAIFA membership.
